The Myths and Facts Over Eye Safety of Lidar at 905nm vs 1550nm and a Novel Wavelength Stabilization Technology on 905nm EEL
The debate over eye safety of lidar systems at 905nm versus 1550nm continues and will not end anytime soon. Here we’d like to discuss how those important parameters (repetition rate, beam waist and divergence) make affects for eye safety in LiDAR system. Other factors like beam of Laser and scanning type of Lidar will also be discussed. Based on aforementioned analysis, we think the gap of max eye-safe peak power between 905nm and 1550nm is not that big and an eye-safe, high performed and cost-efficient Lidar system with 905nm EEL is within reach. Further, a novel wavelength stabilization technology on 905nm EEL is invented by ams OSRAM recently, which will support safer eye safety and farther range detection without peak power increasing.
